Destination management company to be set up in Bahrain

MANAMA, May 7, 2015

Desert Adventures has partnered with Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company to establish the kingdom's first destination management company.

This was announced yesterday (May 6) at the Arabian Travel Market 2015 in the presence of Industry and Commerce Minister Zayed Al Zayani, and a number of Mumtalakat officials and representatives of the tourism sector in the kingdom, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The company has been named atBahrain.

Desert Adventures is part of the Kuoni Destination Management Specialists division.

Thanks to its thousands of years of rich history and open and authentic culture, Bahrain has long been a tourism and cultural hub both regionally and internationally.

This has been highlighted by its selection as the Capital of Arab Culture in 2012, Capital of Arab Tourism in 2013 and Capital of Asian Tourism in 2014.

“The time is now to capitalise on this burgeoning interest in the kingdom so we couldn't be happier about adding to our network to offer our world-class services to Bahrain,” Desert Adventures chief executive Peter Payet said.

“With the support of a renowned entity such as Mumtalakat, the operational setup is certain to be carried out in a streamlined manner,” he added.

“At Mumtalakat, we are always looking for the right investment opportunities and partners who share our values,” Mumtalakat CEO Mahmood Al Kooheji said.

“We are very pleased to partner with Desert Adventures for their expansion into Bahrain and look forward to utilising our expertise to support their next stage of growth.

“Tourism in the Gulf has grown strongly and Bahrain's history as a tourism hub, excellent transport links and open and authentic culture means that there is strong potential in this area,” he said.

“We are excited about the potential of this investment with Desert Adventures to attract more visitors and enhance Bahrain's tourism sector,” he added. - TradeArabia News Service
