Ajman tourism revenues hit $24.4m in Q1

Ajman’s tourism revenues for the first quarter of the year was Dh90 million ($24.4 million), as compared to Dh77 million recorded over the same period last year, according to the latest tourism statistics.

The figures were revealed by the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) on the first day of the ongoing Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, UAE.

The number of hotel nights doubled to 440,000 nights during the period, with Asia and African nationalities high on the list of guest nights, followed by GCC nationals and then other Arab citizens, said Faisal Al Nuaimi, ATDD’s general manager.

The number of visitors to Ajman in the first quarter reached 120,000, with hotel occupancy rate increasing 70 per cent, compared to only 56 per cent in the same period last year, he said.

Meanwhile, the number of hotel establishments (hotels and hotel apartments) in Ajman reached 35 in the first quarter, compared to 30 in the previous year, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
