Abu Dhabi's Summer Season fest to kick off in June

ABU DHABI, April 27, 2015

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has unveiled the region’s Summer Season programme for the year featuring headline theatre shows, live international children’s shows, and top Arab and European comedy acts, among others.

The events will take place across the emirate with shows in Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Gharbia (Western Region) for almost three months.

Running from June 11 to September 5, the Summer Season will see various flight and hotel promotions offered to visitors and residents alike.

Sultan Al Dhaheri, acting executive director of Tourism Sector, TCA Abu Dhabi, said: “With the support of its partners and stakeholders, Abu Dhabi Summer Season 2014 witnessed great success in providing exceptional experiences to visitors and residents. This year we are welcoming additional partners and stakeholders on board who are excited in offering thrilling shows and promotional offers in Abu Dhabi.”

Last year’s Summer Season saw 786,376 guest arrivals with guest nights from the GCC increase by 25 per cent, from India by 26 per cent and from Europe by 19 per cent.

Alexis Djiksterhuis, vice president of Strategy, FLASH Entertainment, who will be bringing a weekend comedy extravaganza of international and regional comedians to Abu Dhabi city, said: “This is the third year we have worked with the TCA to assemble a line-up of shows that appeal to residents and visitors of all ages.”

Children at the Summer Season this year can expect a series of live shows of the much-loved Shaun the Sheep, organised by the MBC Group in Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain.

Indian singing sensation Shreya Ghosal and the first “Comedy Friday” will also be brought to the UAE capital for the event. – TradeArabia News Service
