Air India pilots 'fight inside cockpit'
NEW DELHI, April 6, 2015
Some tense scenes were witnessed in an Air India plane's cockpit between the captain and his deputy in Jaipur, Rajasthan (India) on April 5, just before taking-off for New Delhi, a report said.
When AI 611 was getting ready to fly, the co-pilot abused and allegedly beat up the commander, the Times of India report said citing airline sources.
The co-pilot took offence when asked by the commander to note down critical take-off figures including number of passengers on board, take-off weight and fuel uptake on a small paper card, and reportedly beat up the captain, the report said.
The commander, however, decided to go ahead with the flight, not wanting to disrupt flight services and leave passengers stranded. On landing in Delhi, the captain made a log entry with AI movement control before flying to his home base, Mumbai.
The co-pilot in question has reportedly faced similar charges in the past too, senior AI commanders told Times of India.
