Queen Alia airport witnesses steady passenger traffic growth.

Jordan airport sees record passenger traffic growth

AMMAN, September 27, 2014

Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) in Amman, Jordan, has recorded a 13.2 per cent growth in passenger traffic in August which soared to a record 785,685 compared to the same period last year.

The airport witnessed steady growth in passenger traffic and aircraft movements for the eighth consecutive month this year, stated Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of QAIA.

The aircraft movements too rose by 12 per cent during August to 7,242 compared to the same month last year.

Since the beginning of 2014 and up until August, the year-to-date passenger traffic surged by 12.1 per cent to 4.93 million and aircraft movements rose 9.1 per cent to 49,626 compared to the same period last year, said the AIG report.

Commenting on the performance, AIG chief executive Kjeld Binger said: "The unprecedented achievement recorded during August was mainly led by an increase in passenger traffic to and from Turkey, Egypt and the GCC region."

"This is the first time in QAIA history that we exceed such a benchmark, and we eagerly look forward to reaching even greater heights in the future," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
