Abu Dhabi to unveil new cruise terminal design

ABU DHABI, September 10, 2014

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) is set to showcase the concept design of the planned permanent cruise passenger terminal in the UAE capital at the upcoming Seatrade Med 2014 event in Spain.

Europe’s most prestigious cruise event, Seatrade Med 2014, will run from September 16 to 18 in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

The final model was completed following an international design competition and extensive industry stakeholder input, reported the Emirati news agency WAM.

An important element of the competition was the commitment to hire two leading Emirati architectural graduates, to join the project team for the development of the architectural design, it added.

An Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) delegation will also join ADPC for the emirate’s first dedicated ‘Cruise Abu Dhabi’ international promotion, said the report.

The Abu Dhabi group will meet leading cruise operators and present the emirate as an alternative and preferred winter cruise destination.
