Oman tourism targets Saudi market

Riyadh, April 17, 2014

Oman Ministry of Tourism is highlighting the Sultanate’s status as the one of the top destinations of choice for Saudi tourists at the Riyadh Travel Fair 2014.

Oman continues to attract a significant number of visitors from Saudi Arabia for its various tourism offerings and sites. In 2013, around 17,000 Saudis visited the Sultanate for Khareef Salalah. The ministry aims to sustain this growth and achieve further market expansion by participating in the four-day fair, which runs till April 18 at the Four Season Hotel, Riyadh.

The ministry will showcase the diversity and appeal of Oman’s major tourist attractions and vacation spots, including the southern city of Salalah and various ancient sites which have been included in Unesco’s ‘World Heritage List.’

Ghasi Humaid Al Hashmi, deputy director general of tourism promotion, Oman Ministry of Tourism, said: “We have undertaken several developments and campaigns to boost the Sultanate’s tourism sector over the past years. Our efforts include continuous improvement of our infrastructures, enhancement of our services, and implementation of awareness campaigns to consistently attract international visitors. I am happy to say that we are seeing good results from these strategic measures. Notably, Oman is enjoying an influx of tourists from Saudi Arabia, majority of whom are visiting Salalah. The show definitely offers great opportunities for us to feature the rich cultural heritage and history of the Sultanate to Saudis and other visitors from abroad.”  - TradeArabia News Service
