Manama, April 6, 2014

Captain Dhaffer Al Abbasi has been appointed the new chief executive of Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company.

The announcement follows approval by GAA's board of directors.

A former GAA chief operating officer, Captain Al Abbasi is a professional Bahraini aviator with more than 20 years of experience in the civil aviation industry. He was acting chief executive of GAA since last November.

The appointment was made during a recent GAA board of directors' meeting.

"The capabilities of Captain Al Abbasi speak for themselves, with the extensive experience he has attained over the past years in the aviation field," GAA's chairman Captain Ishaq Al Kooheji said.

"He will contribute substantially to GAA's vision of becoming the leader in high quality professional aviation training in Bahrain and the Mena region. His vast aviation experience will prove instrumental in implementing the new expansion plan set out by the board over the coming years."-TradeArabia News Service
