Dubai to host largest incentive group in history
Dubai, March 24, 2014
The Dubai Convention and Events Bureau (DCEB) is set to showcase the emirate’s premier incentive offer at the annual Gulf Incentives, Business Travel & Meetings Expo (GIBTM) which opens in Abu Dhabi today (March 24).
As part of its preparations for the event, the DCEB, a division of the Dubai Department of Commerce and Tourism Marketing (DTCM), has announced that Dubai will welcome the single largest incentives group in its history next month (April 6-16), comprising over 14,500 delegates from Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. in China.
Business events and incentive tourism are key pillars of Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2020 strategy to increase visitors to Dubai to 20 million in 2020, said the DTCM in its statement.
The DTCM and DCEB’s participation at the three-day GIBTM and its announcement that it will be hosting the largest-ever incentives group comes as part of efforts to grow awareness of the emirate’s offer both regionally and internationally.
Next month, the incentive mega-group will make use of numerous chartered and commercial Emirates flights to travel from various cities in China in addition to over 25 high-end Dubai hotels and dozens of transport coaches during their stay in the emirate.
Arriving in seven overlapping waves, the delegates will be treated to a diverse array of leisure experiences and training opportunities featuring extensive sightseeing around the Emirate, abra rides across the creek, shopping trips to Dubai Mall, and workshops at The Meydan Hotel, said the statement.
Commenting on the historic visit, Hamad Mohammed Bin Mejren, the executive director of Business Tourism at the DTCM, said: "GIBTM is the Middle East’s main stage for the business travel industry and the perfect platform to promote Dubai’s exciting incentive offer. The emirate’s location between East and West along with its world-class infrastructure and year-round calendar of events makes it the perfect hub for groups of any size."
"While we are preparing to promote Dubai to event organisers at GIBTM, we are also extremely pleased to announce that we will be welcoming the largest group in Dubai’s history. This visit will reflect well on our capabilities and is a sign of things to come," stated Bin Mejren.
"China is a key target market for Dubai both in terms of business and leisure tourism and we have no doubt all guests have a great time while they are here," he added.
Helping to co-ordinate the mega-group during their time in Dubai will be Arabian Adventures, Dubai Airports and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in addition to dozens of other tourism and logistics partners.-TradeArabia News Service
