Bayanat, Stratech win key Dubai airport tender

Dubai, January 22, 2014

Singapore-based Stratech Systems and its UAE Partner, Bayanat Airports Engineering and Supplies have been awarded the runway debris management system contract for Dubai International Airport.

The contract, awarded by Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP), is for the installation of the iFerret intelligent airfield/runway surveillance and foreign object and debris (FOD) detection system at the airport.

Developed by Stratech, a leader in RDMS solutions, the system is a vision-based FOD detection system, providing real-time, automated FOD detection, location, classification, measuring and recording approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration.

Covering the runways and taxiway crossings, it will help prevent potential aircraft damage and fatalities caused by FOD, ensuring airside safety and security.

David KM Chew, Stratech’s executive chairman, said: “The Dubai International Airport is one of the top airport hubs handling more than 60 million passengers and aircraft movements in excess of 300,000 annually. We are confident that iFerret will rise to the occasion and enhance aviation safety for travellers and employees in this very busy airport.

Alan Bourjeily, general manager of Bayanat Airports, said: “We look forward to executing and delivering this project successfully and to be contributing to the airport’s safety and operational efficiency.” - TradeArabia News Service
