Doha, April 2, 2012

Leading hospitality group Accor has joined forces with Qatar-based Msheireb Hospitality to launch MGallery, a boutique hotel with modern Qatari heritage inspiration based in Doha.

The upscale hotel brand of Accor, MGallery will be the first of its kind in Qatar. The new hotel will feature 215 rooms, and in addition to meeting facilities, an exclusive spa and a stunning outdoor pool.

The boutique hotel will offer original cafes and restaurants concepts as well as terraces overlooking unique views of the Mshereib district and the Souq Waqif, said Accor in a statement.

The hotel is on the design phase and it is progressing fast, with an anticipated opening scheduled in 2015, it added.

As per the deal signed in February by Accor and Msheireb Hospitality officials, the duo will jointly develop and manage the MGallery hotel in the Qatari capital.

Jean-Jacques Dessors, Accor’s chief operating officer for Africa, ME, Indian Ocean and Caribbean Islands, and Christophe Landais, Accor ME managing director were at the signing cermony along with Abdul Aziz Al Emadi, CEO of Msheireb Hospitality.

On the partnership, Al Emadi said, “We are very pleased to partner with Accor, the world's leading hotel operator and market leader in Europe. Accor also shares our passion in creating a new hub in this part of the city, which integrates the best elements of Doha’s historical heritage with innovative facilities.”

'Msheireb Downtown Doha, the world's first sustainable downtown regeneration project, will redevelop 31 hectares site in the historical city centre of Doha,' he noted.

The project aims to transform the old commercial and business district into the vibrant, cohesive and culturally alive city centre that it once was, he added.

Jean-Jacques Dessors said, 'The very fast development of world-class infrastructure has positioned Doha as an international hub, attracting not only business travellers but also more and more leisure guests.'

'Based on Qatar’s extremely high potential for hospitality and tourism, Doha appears as a priority market for the development of the Accor hotels network in the Middle East,' he noted.

Christophe Landais said, 'We are delighted to support the long-term vision of Msheireb Hospitality by introducing a unique and internationally renowned hotel in Qatar under the MGallery label.'

The MGallery will be a distinctive “boutique hotel” that will offer a modern interpretation of Qatari heritage and hospitality, within the prestigious Msheireb Downtown Doha, and will be located opposite the traditional Souq Waqif and yet close to the airport and Doha’s business districts, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
