Mubadala readies MRO network team

Abu Dhabi, November 2, 2011

Mubadala Aerospace has announced a senior leadership team for its global maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) network encompassing Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) and Swiss-based SR Technics.

While ADAT and SR Technics will continue to remain standalone legal entities, the new structure comes as a response to the changing global aviation service market, said a company statement.

Mubadala Aerospace MRO network is aimed at developing an integrated, value-added offering which goes beyond the traditional MRO business model, it added.

The new unit will include technical services, technical training, supply change management and traditional MRO services through its global operational locations across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Sanad, Mubadala Aerospace’s component and engine financing solutions company, will remain a standalone entity and offer a real differentiator for the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network, supporting increased liquidity for airlines and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

Homaid Al Shemmari, the executive director of Mubadala Aerospace will  be the new chairman, while Jeremy Chan is the executive vice chairman.

James Stewart has been appointed Group CEO who will be leading a highly talented leadership team with long-standing industry experience. The other key members are Abdul Khaliq Saeed, president (Mena), André Wall, president, Europe, Abdulla Mohamed Shadid, chief commercial officer and Pierre Steffen, chief supply chain officer.

Commenting on the appointment, Al Shemmari said: “I am confident that under the guidance of Stewart and the global leadership team, we will be at the forefront of serving the industry’s evolving needs as we progress with the continuing integration of ADAT and SR Technics and drive the strategy for the next stage of growth.”

“The creation of a global aviation solutions business headquartered in Abu Dhabi will benefit all our key stakeholders, including customers, employees, and suppliers, and it also supports Mubadala Aerospace’s long-term strategy to create a buoyant and sustainable aerospace industry in the Emirate.”

Stewart said the establishment of the global leadership team will position the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network to take us towards our goal of becoming a global market force with a unique offering of capabilities, geographic reach and scale.

“The near-term focus will be on developing a single go-to-market strategy through global supply chain and commercial functions, and we will be engaging all our stakeholders to ensure we develop an offering founded on long-term strategic partnerships,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
