Abu Dhabi summer festival opens

Abu Dhabi, June 29, 2011

Summer in Abu Dhabi, an emirate-wide activation that sees a month-long family-friendly festival of acts, shows and premium edutainment concepts, has opened in the UAE capital.

The festival, which runs until July 30, was declared open by Smurfs, the small blue fictional creatures created by Belgian cartoonist, Pierre ‘Peyo’ Culliford, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).

“With an expanded four hall presence at Adnec, the fourth edition of Summer in Abu Dhabi is our biggest showing yet and illustrates how the festival continues to go from strength-to-strength,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, events manager, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), the Summer in Abu Dhabi organisers.

“We have worked tirelessly with many of Abu Dhabi’s leading tourism stakeholders – from hotels and attractions, to tour operators and restaurants – to ensure there is something for everyone in our line-up.  The fun may start at Adnec, but it spreads across Abu Dhabi.”

Adnec entry rates are Dh20 ($5.44) for children aged up to 12 years old – toddlers up to two years old go free - and Dh40 for adults. – TradeArabia News Service
