Gulf Air offers discounts to govt staff
Manama, May 2, 2011
Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has signed partnership agreements with a number of ministries, government and semi-governmental organisations in Bahrain to provide travel discounts to their employees and immediate family members.
Those eligible will receive a discount of 20 per cent on tickets on the airline’s premium class – Falcon Gold and 15 per cent on its Economy class when travelling to any of Gulf Air’s global destinations for either business or pleasure, a statement said.
Gulf Air chief executive officer Samer Majali said: “As Bahrain’s national carrier we are constantly identifying ways to support the Kingdom and its residents through mutually beneficial agreements; today’s announcement reaffirms this commitment. Through partnering with local institutions we hope to build loyalty and make Gulf Air the carrier of choice as we continue working towards creating a commercially sustainable business.”
Abdul-Malik Al-Saie, area commercial manager, said: Employees and their immediate family at these organizations can now enjoy discounted travel to 48 destinations increasing to 51 with the upcoming openings of Kabul in Afghanistan on June 15, Copenhagen in Demark on July 1 and Nairobi in Kenya on July 5. Over the next few months we will be announcing similar agreements with more local organizations.
“This initiative is the first of its kind in the Kingdom. In addition to offering employees a discount, in the future we will be setting up a Gulf Air bureau in each of these institutions to facilitate employees with their bookings,” he concluded. - TradeArabia News Service
