Abu Dhabi event to focus on green tourism
Abu Dhabi, November 21, 2010
World Green Tourism Abu Dhabi, the first event of its kind to be held in the Gulf, will provide a platform for leaders in the tourism and hospitality industry to explore alternative tourism approach.
The event, set to run from November 22-24 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec), has struck a chord with global and regional leaders dedicated to the development and investment in sustainable tourism.
By 2011, the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority aims to issue a green rating to all of the emirate’s hotels and hotel apartments as part of its classification system in line with the green rating system issued by the Urban Planning Council.
‘‘This is a great opportunity for key leaders in hospitality and tourism to meet and discuss the challenges facing the industry and how ‘green‘ initiatives can be integrated into our future business,“ said Thierry Bertin, VP sales and marketing, Hyatt International, South West Asia.
“Any opportunity that provides a platform for industry executives to get together and debate, discuss how we can form, implement and promote a greener society in line with the vision of the Abu Dhabi Government on sustainable practices is always a good thing as it will help shape the future of the hospitality and tourism industries,” said Bertin.
Hyatt Capital Gate, adjacent to Adnec, looks set to become one of the region’s most significant hotel developments with a sleek, contemporary design that has incorporated the latest glass and architecture technology in order to become an eco-efficient property. – TradeArabia News Service
