Travelport launches airline program in Saudi

Riyadh, February 24, 2010

Travelport, operator of the Galileo and Worldspan systems, has launched an innovative airline programme in Saudi Arabia aimed at enhancing its distribution support and co-operation with major carriers serving the kingdom.

Taking place every quarter in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, the series of interactive forums offers an important platform for airlines to exchange valuable information with the GDS provider, helping them leverage the strength of the channel to manage their distribution more efficiently. Nearly 50 senior representatives from the airline industry have participated in the programme.

Travelport is reputed for its strong supplier relationships and the rich content it provides to its travel agency customers from 429 airlines worldwide. With a network of more than 63,000 travel agencies across the globe, the GDS represents an extensive and cost-effective global distribution channel for airlines and is a valuable gateway to a wide range of travel content, said a statement.

“The best practices shared during these forums are invaluable, helping us collaborate more closely with our airline partners and provide them with even greater levels of support,” said Fazal Muhammed, senior director, Saudi Arabia, Travelport.-TradeArabia News Service
