Dubai aviation city-Majestic ink $54m deal

Dubai, June 16, 2008

Dubai World Central Aviation City has signed an agreement with UAE-based Majestic Wings Private Airplane Charter, to set up the project’s second fixed base operations facility with an investment value of Dh 200 million ($54m).

The contract was signed on the sidelines of the two-day Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) 2008 exhibition, which began today (June 16) at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, by DWC Aviation City CEO Abdulla Al Qurashi and Majestic Wings CEO Ahmed Hassan Ahmed Al Housani.

The 79,000 square feet facility which will cater to the jet aviation support services industry will be built within Dubai World Central – the 140 sqkm urban land project centred around Al Maktoum International Airport, set to be the world’s largest on completion.

Under the agreement, Majestic Wings will build their own facilities to offer the full range of fixed base operations services (FBO) with a focus on business jets.

“The Middle East FBO and maintenance, repair and overhaul market is growing at nine per cent annually and aviation service providers are experiencing a distinct lack of world-class aviation infrastructure facilities in the region,” said DWC Aviation City CEO Abdulla Al Qurashi.

“DWC Aviation City is preparing a full range of aviation services infrastructure and with companies like Majestic Wings signing up with high-value investments, the DWC project is an answer to the industry’s growing demands.”

Majestic Wings will own two Gulfstream G200 aircraft which will be sub-leased for use by corporates for business trips, freight transport and special large group-flights.

Al Qurashi added: “Any company applying to DWC Aviation City undergoes in-depth scrutiny and well-rounded analysis in term of their business plan, their planned operation and their fitness to the project’s master plan. Majestic Wings is going to offer executive services that are somehow new to the region though growing worldwide.”

DWC Aviation City is a unique concept to establish a complete aviation cluster in one area to cater to the region’s aviation growth, strategically located to provide clients access to emerging markets as well as servicing the fast-growing Middle East market. – TradeArabia News Service
