Silverjet passenger traffic up by 10pc

Dubai, March 6, 2008

All-business class airline Silverjet has recorded strong passenger traffic figures for the month of February, reporting a 65 per cent load factor - up 10 per cent from January.

The company attributes these positive results in part to the new Dubai route, which continues to perform strongly and witness high levels of advance bookings - a testament to the market’s strong response to Silverjet.

“In February, we witnessed a surge in bookings and recognise that our Dubai route has played a key role. With a growing number of repeat customers, our Dubai service continues to go from strength to strength, helping drive the company’s overall growth,” said Silverjet CEO Lawrence Hunt.

A contributing factor to the success of the Dubai route is the carrier’s strong operational performance. According to the latest official CAA figures, Silverjet achieved an 87 per cent on-time departure record in February and has been the most punctual airline for the second consecutive month.

Indeed, the carrier remains confident that it is on course for profit: “The board is making every effort to ensure that Silverjet will achieve its first month of operating profit and be cash generative in March 2008,” added Hunt.

Silverjet flights depart Dubai daily at 1030 and arrive in London Luton Airport at 1445. Return flights depart from London Luton at 2100 and arrive in Dubai at 0830. Connecting flights to New York Newark are also available, departing London Luton Airport at 1645.  – TradeArabia News Service
