MMD unveils first curved Philips display monitor

DUBAI, September 9, 2015

MMD, a leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, has unveiled its first curved display for the desktop.

The 34-inch Brilliance Curved UltraWide display wraps around the user’s line of vision to create an immersive, focused experience; rich DTS enhanced audio through integrated speakers complements the visuals with superb surround sound, said a statement.

With its UltraWide screen and Quad HD resolution, sRGB colour and productivity-boosting MultiView, this 34-inch display shows an appealingly curvy way to help office professionals see and think straight, it said.

With the background hum of voices, phones and people passing by, offices are full of distraction for desk workers looking for complete focus on the task in hand, said the statement.

The new display will put the user at the centre of the desktop. Up close, the perception is that the display is entirely focused on the person seated at the desk. The curved shape means users need to turn their head less to see content at the edges of the screen.

The edge-to-edge glass and ultra-narrow border enhance this seamless appearance, maximising the viewing area.

Artem Khomenko, product manager EMEA at MMD, said: “The curved display brings the edges and pixels closer to the user, making the viewing experience more comfortable. Viewers sit closer to a desktop screen than to a TV, so screen curvature can create a far more immersive working session with minimal distraction.”

The experience will be reinforced by the display’s integrated audio technology, the DTS sound enrichment suite that brings sound alive. With DTS, the display’s integrated speakers will expand the sound image, improve definition and enhance bass surround effects.

With the UltraWide 21:9 format, there is plenty of space to spread out during a busy day of multitasking. Users can view side-by-side comparisons without constantly toggling between windows and view text and figures with super high contrast for fatigue-free concentration, even when the screen is partitioned into multiple sections such as with MultiView.

The technology will enable users to connect and view content from multiple devices side by side, making complex multitasking far easier.

The picture performance is given an extra boost by Philips Smart Technologies, all part of the commitment to give users the best viewing experience possible.

SmartContrast will automatically adjusts colours and controls backlight intensity to enhance contrast for the best digital images and videos. It also features a special Economy mode for just-right display of everyday office applications and lower power consumption.

SmartResponse will automatically put response times into overdrive for applications such as gaming or movies to deliver images free of judder, time-lag or host effects.

It features all the connectivity choices to make work easier for professionals: DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0 for maximum visuals, MHL technology for enjoying mobile content on the big screen, and USB 3.0 for fast data transfers and smart phone charging. - TradeArabia News Service
