Panasonic unveils new scanners
MANAMA, August 18, 2015
Panasonic Middle East and Africa (PMMAF) unveiled today two models of its successful KV-SL10 series of high volume scanners.
“The KV-SL1066 and KV-SL1056 both have advanced one touch scanning where a single press of the button confirms the desired settings; one can scan different size papers at the same time and additionally double sided scanning takes as long as single sided scanning, eliminating the need to turn the document over after every scan,” according to Nelson Edward, manager, System Networks and Communication, PMMAF.
In addition to their double-feed prevention roller which memorises to automatically disable double-feed detection for documents with the same format, the double-feed prevention system is enhanced by an ultrasonic sensor that detects the double feeding of originals during scanning. This innovative design is effective even when the documents being scanned contain a mix of paper of different weights or thickness, the company said.
The scanners can automatically lower the output speed if scanning documents that are 148 mm or shorter, and the exit guides keep the documents from slipping, thus preventing larger documents from slipping underneath shorter ones.
By switching the DFP roller lever, multi-page documents, and documents as thin as 0.04 mm can be continuously scanned. That makes it easy to scan thin forms or vouchers. A double-feed prevention roller release mechanism provided also allows compound paper such as carbonless copy paper to be fed.
These models can scan up to three embossed cards, consecutively.
Another great feature of the scanners is Automatic Image Orientation, which can detect the direction of the scanned text in the documents and automatically rotate it into the correct direction, it said.
The Automatic Brightness Adjustment function automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast of scanned images, even on documents with varying paper colours and text hues, to produce scanned images with suitable brightness.
To ensure confidentiality of data, the scanned data is automatically erased from the scanner memory as soon as scanning is completed.
The clamshell design allows full, easy access to the entire paper path, so any paper jams can be cleared or the unit can be cleaned without assistance from a service centre.
The rollers last a long time saving on cost and maintenance, the company said.
"The scanners can be installed just about anywhere as their small footprint allows them to conveniently fit into small spaces, such as reception counters or desk sides. For instance, placing one of them at the reception area of a bank or hospital allows customer or patient ID cards, passports and other documents to be quickly scanned. This enables real-time information sharing to help provide fast, accurate and consistent service," it said. – TradeArabia News Service
