Toshiba leads laptop market in Saudi
DUBAI, July 21, 2015
Toshiba laptop computers are dominating the Saudi Arabian market, being the number one choice of consumers, according to a recent report.
Toshiba Gulf secured the top spot for notebook PC sales in Saudi Arabia with 23 per cent market share in the first quarter of the year, said market intelligence firm IDC.
The brand previously held the number one position in the kingdom for three consecutive years between 2011 and 2013, and a No 2 position last year, it said.
During the first quarter, Toshiba initiated a series of initiatives, including an incentive programme for its best performing channel partners, as well as the appointing of two new distributors in Saudi Arabia, Sands Distribution and BDL Group.
These initiatives have proved to be successful and have directly resulted in a surge in sales, which in turn resulted in Toshiba reclaiming its position as Saudi Arabia’s top PC brand.
Additionally, the results showed a significant increase in Toshiba’s storage sales in region, with 30 per cent market share in Saudi Arabia for Toshiba’s external HDD, making the company the top storage device brand in the country.
Santosh Varghese, general manager, Digital Products and Services, Toshiba Gulf, said: “Toshiba reclaiming the top position in Saudi Arabia is a testament to Toshiba’s ever-growing brand equity. Customers trust us as our products offer superior quality, reliability and leading innovation.
“We plan to maintain our year-on-year growth by continuing to offer consumers devices that are exclusively customised to address their tastes and requirements.” - TradeArabia News Service
