Megamart to open branch at Al Hayat Mall
Manama, April 28, 2014
Etihad Al Khaleej Real Estate, owners and managers of Al Hayat Mall in Southern Manama, and Megamart have signed an agreement to open a flagship supermarket at the mall.
The mall, which opened its doors in 2013 at Segaya/ Mahooz, southern Manama, is host to family-friendly brands such as Costa Coffee, Nasser Pharmacy, Max Fashion, Pirate Land Children’s Amusement Park, a large food court with staple brands such as Dairy Queen and Papa John Pizza, amongst others.
Etihad Al-Khlaeej chairman Dr Fadhel Al Arrayed said: “Al Hayat Mall breathes new life into the southern parts of Manama, where our research indicated a need for a community-friendly centre offering quality shopping.”
“Unfortunately the franchisees of Waitrose in Bahrain have encountered financial difficulty and had to pull out of the Bahrain market; and after thorough consideration of the major operators in Bahrain, Megamart has been chosen to replace Waitrose in this strategic shopping hub in Manama.
“When Megamart opens its doors in July, it will offer the residents of Manama’s most prominent neighbourhoods a convenient, modern and attractive place to do their daily food and grocery shopping, a service that has by and large been lacking in the area.”
Rajkumar Waghnani, Bahrain general manager of Megamart Supermarkets, which is managed by Choithram’s, expressed his pleasure at the conclusion of the agreement. “As the Gulf’s largest importer of internationally recognized food brands, we will offer discerning shoppers a wide range of the freshest and best products from around the world.”
“Our flagship store in Al Hayat Mall will be our 8th branch in Bahrain and follows closely the opening of our Saar store. Al Hayat’s location in Manama is ideal, as there is ample parking and easy road access. Enhancing the shopping experience for residents of the surrounding areas is in line with our business objectives of variety, convenience and quality.” -TradeArabia News Service
