20,000 expected at Ramadan event

Dubai, May 30, 2012

Over 20,000 visitors are expected at the ‘Ramadan Market Night’, a unique event set to be held from August 10 to 19 by Sumansa Exhibitions, which will cater to all festival needs under one roof.

The multi-products, multi-country, multi-utility consumer fair will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center and feature products and services from across the globe with product categories ranging from food, garments and leather, electronics, perfumes, home appliances, accessories, furniture and handicrafts, toys and baby items, automobiles, souvenirs and collectibles, musical instruments, and travel and tourism.

Over 300 exhibitors will participate in the event which is guaranteed to generate a lot of buzz around the festival of Eid, while giving retailers a big edge by providing a great platform to showcase and sell their products and services, a statement from Sumansa said.

Sunil Jaiswal, CEO, Sumansa Exhibitions, said: “People from different parts of the world live and work here, bringing their own cultural heritage to this cosmopolitan city. Spending during the Ramadan period and before Eid is significantly higher and customers are always looking for new experiences.”

“No other event of this profile is held during Ramadan in Dubai hence there seems to be a big potential and huge demand. Considering all this we felt, an event of this nature at this time of the year would be a fantastic idea. For both exhibitors and shoppers it will be the right platform, whereas shoppers will get to shop for all their Eid requirements, retailers can use this to sell, market or launch new products,” he said.

UAE retail report forecasts that the country’s retail sales will grow from an estimated Dh124.07 billion ($33.78 billion) in 2012 to Dh179.15 billion ($48.78 billion) by 2016.

Key factors include strong underlying economic growth, increasing household consumption, growing acceptance of modern retailing concepts, and expatriate wealth.

While Emiratis contribute to retail sales, the buying power of the country’s expatriate residents is the major source of success, according to a study by Indian research firm RNCOS.

Tourism is also a massive factor in stimulating retail growth, with BMI forecasting UAE tourist arrivals to reach 12.57 million in 2012, a 7.1 per cent rise on the previous year.

Sajid Aga, project director, Sumansa Exhibitions, said: “Sumansa Exhibitions has always been at the forefront of organising top-level exhibitions catering to consumer demands and fulfilling their aspirations while ensuring that our exhibitors get the maximum return on investment, all our events are very well marketed including our flagship internationally acclaimed Indian Property Show.” – TradeArabia News Service
