Kuwait City, May 8, 2012
International fashion brand, Kurt Geiger, has announced the launch its Spring Summer collection which sees the revival of well-worn traditions with new tonal layering and complex constructions.
Rebecca Farrar-Hockley, creative director, Kurt Geiger, said: “For Spring/Summer 2012 the Kurt Geiger fashionista discovers her fascination with a rhinestone-studded California. Collections of crystal coated stilettos and pin-up mules sit comfortably in a paradise where the rich and famous mingle and Marilyn Monroe and the late Elizabeth Taylor play out their glamorous guises amidst sun-drenched cityscapes.”
“Everything but the Dress transforms for spring with a kaleidoscope of shades whilst accents of scarlet and neon give pace to pretty pastels,” she said. “Soft but not always sweet, the collection has a refined edgy undertone.”
Signature stilettos are fashioned in white and soft shades of turquoise, mint, lilac, lemon and pink. Continuing the experimental print work from the debut collection, Kurt Geiger’s design team have continued to collaborate with British print designer, Joe Duke.
The KG*Kurt Geiger collection plays from satin bows to grown-up guises with Art Deco inspired designs. The collection harbours a futuristic vintage feel with glamour at its heart without forgetting functionality, a statement from Kurt Geiger said.
Carvela is an embellished collection of rhinestones that appear to float above stiletto sandals and cork wedges, whilst dainty 1920s styles and feminised sportswear take inspiration from the Hollywood Golden Age.
The shoes come in tropical print and palette as sky-high points and midi-heels parade bows in turquoise, coral, lemon, lilac and pink patent that compliment a white glitter-stingray, the statement said.
The 'Humbug' collection returns with the celebrated oversized zip clutch and tote reworked in innovative Italian snake-cut leathers, white whips, natural tan and acid yellow suede.
‘Fizzball’ is newly proposed with a statement chain wrist handle and spring’s silhouette is complimented with the debut of ‘Sylvie’, a slouchy new shopper and compact mini bags with clean chain and smooth studded detail.
Kurt Geiger also introduces the first in-house designed sunglasses collection, a unique series of handmade high-fashion styles which bring a new take on timeless classics, it said.
Taking inspiration from the late Elizabeth Taylor, jewels stand out with textural combinations of faceted glass crystals with natural grosgrain. A collection of bangles and necklaces combine metal hardware with woven suede and multi-strand chains and leathers.
Candy is an abundance of purse-friendly accessories including pouches, cardholders, technology accessories, belts, pencil cases, trinkets and shoppers in Perspex, embossed snake and silk nylons including the psychedelic print collection.
