Swiss tourist in Dubai wins 5kg gold
Dubai, March 10, 2011
A tourist from Switzerland was the lucky winner of the grand prize of the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group’s Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2011 promotion, winning 5kg of gold.
Felix Attenhofer, 52, purchased jewellery from a Damas outlet in the Deira Gold Souq in Dubai as a gift for his wife after she donated one of her kidneys to him.
“I was looking for a beautiful gift for my wife as a gift of thanks after she donated one of her kidneys to me five years ago, as I have suffered from diabetes since childhood. We found a beautiful pendant and chain at Damas which I purchased during the Dubai Shopping Festival, but I did not expect to win the competition. I thank the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group and Damas for their generous prize,” said Attenhofer, who is retired and who previously worked in a Swiss bank.
In addition to Attenhofer, there were six other winners from Damas outlets during the DSF, who each won the daily prize of a half kilo of gold. For the occasion of DSF, Damas, the region’s leading international jewellery and watch retailer, launched five new designs.
“We had a very successful DSF this year, as there was a lot of positive feedback about our collections from both local residents and tourists alike, especially our new designs launched for this occasion,” said Dhanji Dedhia, marketing director, Damas.
DSF 2011 ran from January 20 to February 20, and for every Dh 500 purchase of jewellery, shoppers received a raffle ticket that gave them the chance to win the daily prize of ½ kg of gold, or the grand prize of 5 kg of gold in the Dubai Gold Jewellery Group’s raffle promotion on the last day of DSF 2011.-TradeArabia News Service
