MPs raise Bahrain petrol price hike issue

MPs have demanded answers from two top government officials over premium petrol prices in Bahrain that could go up by 20 per cent.

They agreed to summon Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Oil and Gas Affairs Minister and National Oil and Gas Authority chairman Dr Abdulhussain Mirza next week to be questioned on the proposed increase.

Our sister newspaper Gulf Daily News (GDN) reported last week that a proposal to increase the price of Mumtaz fuel from 100 fils to 120 fils per litre was being discussed.

Meanwhile, Works Minister Essam Khalaf will also be called for questioning after it emerged a proposal to levy fees for sewage services was being studied.-TradeArabia News Service
