Samsung launches new laptop series

Dubai, August 5, 2010

Samsung Electronics, a global leader in IT, has launched the next phase of its R-series and N-series laptops.

The new R-series models include the R440, strengthening on Samsung’s 14-inch screen size segment, and the R590 with premium specifications, which builds on its predecessor, the R580.

The N-Series new models include the N150P, the second generation model of the N150 available in a wide range of colours, and the N210P netbook.

“We have already seen a successful 2010 line-up with our first phase of notebooks and netbooks, and with the latest R- and N- series models we are confident we will maintain a sustained growth in notebook and netbook sales in the region,” said Raj Varma, business head of notebooks, IT division, Samsung Gulf Electronics.

“The Samsung R series, with its unrivalled mobile entertainment, offers an all-round performance, while the Samsung’s N-series features lightweight, stylish netbooks for easy surfing and entertainment, which come in a variety of colors to suit every lifestyle,” he added.

In Q1 2010, the region’s (EMEA) combined desktop and notebook market experienced a growth of 22 per cent, while notebook/netbook continued to gain share with a year on year increase of 48.5 per cent, a statement said.

In addition, the growth in the number of internet users in the region and beyond will continue to spur a growth in Netbook and notebook sales, it added.

“With the launch of the next phase of notebooks and netbooks, we are expecting a regional growth of over 160 per cent in our laptop division in 2010, with the help of our enhanced marketing strategy which has been put into action,” Varma continued.

The Samsung R-series notebooks and N-series netbooks have all been awarded the leading environmental and usability standard, TCO Certified, and are ECO RoHS compliant, according to the statement.

As well as being ergonomically designed for optimum ease of use and performance, they are also completely mercury free and consume significantly less power thanks to their LED backlit displays.

Their ultra-lightweight, robust and compact design also offers other ‘green’ advantages, as less power is used in the manufacture and usage phases of their product life, the statement said.

“The Samsung R-Series notebooks are a symbol of all-round quality and performance – offering outstanding mobile technology and entertainment in Samsung’s distinctive and highly popular and successful touch of colour, advancing Samsung's signature style with an ultra-sleek design and a deep infusion of color that illuminates the piano-black casing,” said Varma.

“With such advanced graphics, multimedia capabilities and large hard drives the new R-Series notebooks are designed to satisfy the demand of today’s consumers for systems that play incredible HD games and movies.”

He added: “Available in a wide range of attractive colors and designs, the Samsung N150P raises the bar in the highly portable computing. Two key user demands have been addressed with the N150P: a longer battery life and the ultimate in connectivity.”

“With other additional features such as the bright LED display for use in direct sunlight, customers in the Middle East are sure to take full advantage of the highly-capable N-series,” Varma concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
