Braun hairdryers hit by global recall
Manama, May 26, 2010
Bahrain's sole dealer of Braun products is gearing up for an influx of hairdryers following a global recall by manufacturer Procter and Gamble.
Yaquby Stores, in Manama, is urging owners of two models of hairdryer to return them in exchange for new ones.
The hairdryers in question are the Braun Satin Pro and Braun Satin Hair Colour models, produced between April 2007 and November 2008.
'There is a small risk that the affected hairdryer may short-circuit, overheat and start burning if left plugged in, in a very humid environment, even when switched off,' Braun said on its website.
'Therefore, after confirming that they have an affected hairdryer, consumers are asked to immediately unplug the hairdryer and to not use it any further.'
The affected hairdryers carry the 'product type' number 3549, located on the handle, and 'production codes' ranging from 701 to 852, which are visible when the rear protection filter is removed.
'We were notified about this a few days ago by Procter and Gamble and we have been co-ordinating with stores around Bahrain on how many have been sold and how many are left,' said Yaquby Stores sales manager P Raghunathan.
'We don't have any exact figures now for how many of these defected pieces may be in the market, but it should be around 100. Customers can either take their hairdryer to the store where they bought it or bring it directly to us for an exchange. No receipt of purchase is required.'-TradeArabia News Service
