LG, MEC plan to enhance market position

Amman, March 3, 2009

LG Electronics (LGE) and its business partner, the Middle East Complex (MEC), have reiterated their commitment to enhance and sustain their leadership position in Jordan.

The announcement was made at an event held at the Le Royale Hotel on March 1 to celebrate their common achievements over the last 20 years.

LGE was able to strengthen its position in the Jordanian market by establishing a strong and long-term partnership with a distinguished company like MEC, cementing customer relations, and solidify its position as designers of premium lifestyles in Jordan, a statement said.

“LG Electronics holds the MEC and its team members in the highest esteem,” said Kevin Cha, managing director of LG Electronics Levant. “We regard our long-standing relationship with pride and a sense of accomplishment over what we have achieved together in the Kingdom over the years.

“Our strategic partnership with MEC stems from our belief in strengthening the joint efforts of both our firms, allowing us to enhance and sustain leadership positions in several of our products like the LCD TV, washing machines, and air conditioners.”

MEC’s chairman of the board, Osama Al Khalili, said: “Our successful partnership with LG Electronics enables us to leverage the company’s expertise in producing products that truly enhance the consumer’s lifestyles.

“Our relationship has also helped us contribute greatly to the local community, a role and a responsibility that we look upon with the highest importance. Growing together locally, and as LGE’s presence in the market expanded and our own company developed, our relationship has continued to evolve and solidify over the years, no small matter in an increasingly demanding market."

MEC currently has 15 showrooms across Jordan offering after-sales, maintenance and installation services rendered by a team of experts.

MEC recorded a net profit of in JD 5.7 million 2008 and an increase of 16 per cent in its annual revenues to reach JD130 million, as compared to JD112 million in 2007. – TradeArabia News Service
