Nina Ricci opens ME-first boutique
Dubai, February 26, 2009
Luxury brand Nina Ricci has opened its boutique at the Dubai International Financial Centre’s (DIFC) Gate Village, in partnership with Villa Moda.
The launch marks Nina Ricci’s first boutique in the Middle East. In keeping with the aesthetic of the House's creative director, Olivier Theyskens, the interior of the boutique has been modelled in a new modern style.
“Villa Moda is very happy to join hands with Nina Ricci to establish its first boutique in the Middle East,” said Sheikh Majed Al Sabah, founder and chairman of Villa Moda. “The new boutique will give Nina Ricci the perfect platform to tap into a dynamic new market. Its presence in the Middle East will also assist the fashion house in its efforts to further develop its global brand equity.
“Iconic fashion brands such as Nina Ricci will contribute to our efforts to further enrich the vibrant and eclectic fashion environment we are creating in the Gate Village in DIFC.”
Abdulla Bin Sougat, chief executive officer of the DIFC lifestyle group, said: “Combining exquisite designs with refined materials and craftsmanship, as well as flawless production, Nina Ricci has been credited with creating some of the world’s greatest fashion for women.
“The establishment of Nina Ricci’s boutique at the Gate Village will further enrich the international lifestyle offering in the Dubai International Financial Centre.”
“The exquisite design of the boutique will also add to the aesthetic ambience in the Gate Village. By bringing global fashion houses like Nina Ricci, DIFC Lifestyle and Villa Moda seek to offer the very best in international fashion in the DIFC district,” he added.
The design of the space was one of the first projects undertaken by Theyskens upon his appointment to the House in 2006. Under his influence, the boutique is a subtle combination of styles incorporating Nina Ricci’s feminine feel with her modern Italian spirit and the House’s historic image as a brand imbued with Parisian chic.
The mélange of these elements, along with Theysken’s personal vision, creates a harmonious ambience that is both sleekly modern and timelessly elegant.
Conceived with a desire to make clients feel as if they are visiting a private Parisian home rather than a megastore, the boutique features off-white modern furniture, egg-shell white walls outlined in braids of antique gold trim, and a multitude of silvery mirrors that play on transparence.
The overall effect is one of high refinement and understated sophistication - elements that the universe of Nina Ricci has stood for since its inception. – TradeArabia News Service
