International Diamond Labs opens in Italy

Dubai, December 23, 2008

Dubai-based International Diamond Laboratories has opened a full fledged diamond and diamond jewellery grading laboratory in Valenza, the capital of Italy’s high-end jewellery market.

'Italy is one of the most important diamond markets in the world and home to some of the leading international brands,' said Peter Meeus, CEO of International Diamond Laboratories.

'Though we did not have direct operations in the country so far, our certificates are already being used by leading retailers in the market. Now with the new laboratory we will be able to better serve our customers in Italy and other parts of Europe.'

“In the current economic scenario, the importance of certification becomes even more significant. As consumers become more cautious with their spending, retailers who can verify the quality and value of the diamonds and diamond jewellery will have their confidence.”

A Dubai government initiative and a subsidiary of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, the International Diamond Laboratories employs the latest technologies to scientifically define the 4 Cs- clarity, colour, cut and carat- of polished diamonds and diamond jewellery.

The lab’s certificates are internationally recognised and it uses automated colour grading process, taking human error out of the equation.-TradeArabia News Service
