Carrefour will soon launch a 136,000 square foot hypermarket in Dubai Sports City, a report said.

The retailer's decision was spurred by research which revealed that Dubai Sports City was strategically located in the heart of a key retail catchment area, including the project's 70,000 residents and an estimated 1.2 million people who will live within a 20-minute drive from Arena Mall, where Carrefour has planned to open its store, according to the Gulf News report.

Carrefour is part of the MAF Group.
