GE launches cameras in Middle East

Dubai, October 21, 2008

General Electric, the second largest company in the world, has launched a range of digital cameras that will be now available in the Middle East.

GE will introduce to the Middle East A, G and E range of digital cameras, with four models in the A series ranging from 7 mega pixels to 12 mega pixels, two 8 mega pixel cameras in the E series and the 8 mega pixels G2 from the G series.

Available in a striking variety of vibrant colours, the cameras are designed, manufactured and distributed by the GE-licensed General Imaging, and have been acclaimed across the world for their value, style and expansive list of features in an ultra-slim body, said a statement.

Each camera has easy to use panoramic stitching, which allows the user to create a three-shot panorama image that is great for both landscapes and groups of friends. It eliminates the need for specialist computer software or hours of editing, which is perfect for people who want to share photos quickly and post them on social networking websites.

All models will incorporate newly developed technology for smile and blink recognition, which has been built into the face detection feature, the statement said.

“The launch of the digital cameras will play a key role in introducing a whole new generation to the pioneering GE brand name,” said Yasser Sharaf, managing director of Sharaf Electronics, the distributor of choice for GE’s digital camera range. “With their trendy design, youth-oriented features and casual appeal, GE’s digital cameras are sure to strike a chord with the fashion-conscious and tech-savvy youth of the region,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
