LG Scarlet surpases sales expectations

The Scarlet TV series, the world’s slimmest LCD TV from LG Electronics, has reported impressive initial sales in the Middle East of over 2,730 units since its introduction last month.

In the UAE itself, LG has sold over 1,638 units of the Scarlet range and the digital leader plans to introduce the bestselling product in other new markets.

“The interest from consumers has been fantastic,” said CEO of LG Middle East and Africa Regional Company K W Kim.

“The LG Scarlet is a powerful combination of stylish design and shape as well as LG’s innovative LCD technology. This flagship product has earned the respect of the region’s consumers and we plan to strengthen this line-up in the months ahead.”

The LG Scarlet, the world’s slimmest at just 45mm, gives viewers the ability to precisely calibrate the image and automatically adjusts brightness according to ambient light, to create an optimal viewing experience.

In addition to being a technological marvel, the LG60 sports a design intended to connect with viewers on an emotional level. The hallow circle at the lower part of the bezel serves as a decorative focal points and soft touch sensor makes even a simple task like turning the TV on or off more appealing, The TV provide subtle illumination from its back creating a calming effects.

As per the first quarter results announced recently, Digital Display Company sales jumped 32.1 per cent to $3.808 billion powered by rise in sales of flat TVs and monitors; LCD TVs 82 per cent, Plasma TVs 18 per cent and monitors 30 per cent from a year earlier.

PDP module sales grew 17 per cent on year thanks to the company’s demand in plasma TVs and 32 inch line-ups to the company and other vendors. Operating profit successfully recovered to $1 million.

LG also expects sales of the Scarlet range to jump across the globe in view of the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games. – TradeArabia News Service
