TechnipFMC breaks ground on new Saudi facility

DHAHRAN, Saudi Arabia, November 20, 2018

TechnipFMC, global leader in subsea, onshore/offshore, and surface projects, has broken ground on its new state-of-the-art manufacturing, aftermarket and training facility in Dhahran in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

The 52,500-sq-m facility greatly expands TechnipFMC’s footprint in Saudi Arabia with a major investment and 140 new jobs focusing on Saudi talents. The new facility will offer a broad range of manufacturing, aftermarket and training capabilities in-country, supporting the full TechnipFMC portfolio with its advanced technology and integrated systems in the drilling, completion, production, measurement and pressure control activities.

“Firstly, we are making a commitment to Saudisation and localisation,” TechnipFMC Surface Technologies president Richard Alabaster said at the recent ground-breaking ceremonies.

“Secondly, we are increasing our capacity to meet the challenge of the upcoming rise in activity planned within Saudi Aramco,” Alabaster said. “Thirdly, we want to have the capabilities in-country to bring the full scope of our Surface Technologies portfolio and integrate in a way that makes the economics of Saudi Aramco’s projects much more favourable.”

The 140 new jobs reinforce TechnipFMC commitment to acquiring a local, diverse and capable workforce in the next five years as part of the In-Kingdom Total Value Add Program (IKTVA), a new programme created by Saudi Aramco to baseline, measure and support increased levels of localization in the Kingdom.

Alabaster said he expects the initial investment in the new facility will grow as new capabilities are developed in-country that will allow TechnipFMC to not just supply the local Saudi market but also export from Saudi Arabia. – TradeArabia News Service
