Honeywell named ‘strategic partner’ of GMIS

DUBAI, October 14, 2018

The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS), a joint initiative by the UAE and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), has announced Honeywell as its latest strategic partner.

The summit will take place in July 2019, in the city of Yekaterinburg, in Russia, and will be themed on ‘nature-inspired technologies’, highlighting the ways in which manufacturing is inspired by our surrounding environment to innovate.

Honeywell, the Fortune 100 software-industrial company, delivers industry-specific connected technologies that help everything from aircraft, buildings, manufacturing plants, supply chains, and workers become more connected to make our world smarter, safer and more sustainable.

The move further cements the importance of having a global platform for the manufacturing community to shape a new future driven by sustainability and technology, said a statement.

As a strategic partner to the summit, Honeywell will play a leading role in promoting the advancement and adoption of connected, Internet of Things (IoT) based technologies that are shaping the future of global industry.

The summit is the world’s first cross-industry platform designed to contribute to global prosperity by harnessing Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies, uniting influential delegates from across the global manufacturing community, and placing the sector at the heart of global economic regeneration.

Honeywell will join the GMIS Connect Global Roadshow program and become a lead sponsor, it said.

Norm Gilsdorf, president of Honeywell, High Growth Regions, Middle East and Russia, said: “The summit is an important platform for the advancement of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is harnessing data and connectivity to bring new levels of productivity, efficiency, safety and security to the world.”

“As a connected technology company at the forefront of this revolution, we are well-placed to take a centre role at GMIS, bringing together governments and industrial leaders to identify opportunities to unlock true potential of Industry 4.0, and drive unparalleled economic growth as a result,” he added.

Badr Al Olama, head of the organising committee for the GMIS, said: “From connected aircraft and smart cities to tackling climate change issues, Honeywell truly demonstrates the importance and significance of remaining at the forefront of our industry’s paradigm shift.”

“The challenges that the Fourth Industrial Revolution poses are also opportunities, ones that can only be realised through strong partnerships. We are proud of our alliance with Honeywell and, together, we will continue to drive forward a strategic path for the industry that facilitates sustainable development and greater economic contribution,” he added.

The summit will also focus on the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on global economies, and the role of manufacturing in advancing the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
