SEC conducts inspections on Makkah, Madinah projects

RIYADH, August 3, 2018

Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) recently conducted inspections of newly-completed power projects around Makkah and Madinah as part of its Hajj season preparations, said a report.

SEC engineers and technicians have carried out the maintenance and safety programme for the generation plants in preparation for the Hajj season. They provided a sufficient number of units to cover the expected maximum loads.

The projects under inspection included 13 transmission as well as various distribution projects aimed at meeting pilgrims’ utility needs during the Hajj season, reported Arab News, citing a senior official.

"Various electrical projects were planned by the end of last year’s Hajj season and were established over the past months through Saudi competence and expertise and the company’s distinguished personnel," remarked Ziad bin Mohammed Al Shiha, the chief executive of SEC.

Al Shiha also visited the SEC’s offices in Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah, and discussed details of plans for this year’s Hajj season with the company’s officials.

"They are a part of the company’s strategy to check the reliability of the electrical services in all the sites," he added.
