The upcoming Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2018, a major event for renewables, will explore three key global trends that are impacting the shift to sustainable energy – climate change, urbanisation, and digitisation.

The event, themed ‘Driving the Global Energy Transformation’, will run from January 13 to 20 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec), reported Emirates news agency Wam.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, ADSW will be co-located with World Future Energy Summit (WFES), International Water Summit (IWS), Zayed Future Energy Prize award ceremony, the eighth session of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly, and the EcoWASTE exhibition.

Khalifa Al Qubaisi, acting chief commercial officer of Adnec, said: "With Adnec teams working around the clock, the preparations for hosting ADSW 2018 have entered the final stages. The annual mega event convenes world leaders, policy- and decision-makers, thought leaders, scientists, C-suite executives, and academics to discuss the energy and sustainability challenges of the future.

Adnec offers 133,000 sq m of interconnected floor space to meet the requirements of a wide variety of events and exhibitions. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and built to international standards, the venue attracted 1.5 million people across 480 events in 2016.
