EDF Energy awards new contract to Simmons Edeco

Great Yarmouth, England, December 10, 2017

Simmons Edeco, a leading supplier of wellhead and valve maintenance, asset integrity solutions and onshore drilling services to the global oil and gas industry, announced that it has been awarded a contract by EDF Energy, the UK's largest producer of low-carbon electricity.

The contract requires Simmons Edeco to provide the French utility company with a range of services to maintain its gas storage facilities in Cheshire, England. More specifically,
Simmons Edeco is supplying production wellhead and valve maintenance, and integrity testing services to optimise facility operations.

The maintenance programme involves installing and removing wellheads and Christmas trees, workover support, and making certain that valves are properly maintained and refurbished.  In addition, Simmons Edeco will carry out annulus testing, and Echometering and data analysis to assess liquid levels in the well.

Building upon success
The award comes on the heels of a successfully completed contract for EDF Energy.  During the past year, Simmons Edeco carried out maintenance and integrity testing on all cavities, wellheads, Christmas trees and associated equipment.  The maintenance team also inspected production valves and gearboxes. This has generated valve procurement and supply, and highlighted re-dress requirements. The work has been carried out in accordance with jointly produced work packs that contain both EDF Energy and Simmons Edeco work instructions and procedures.

“This recent contract award is extremely important for us, as we continue to cultivate a positive working relationship with EDF Energy,” said Mark Hunt, operations manager for Simmons Edeco.  “While working to maintain their Gas Storage Facility in Cheshire, we have consistently aimed to provide them with reliable, professional service.  We always work with an honest, open and cooperative approach, which has undoubtedly strengthened their confidence in our capabilities.  It was a major factor in awarding this valuable contract, and we look forward to supporting them during the coming years.”
