Dewa awards $25m contracts for low-voltage cables

DUBAI, July 17, 2017

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has awarded contracts worth Dh95 million ($25.8 million) to a number of national companies for the supply of 1,290  km of low-voltage cables for household connections.

This is part of its ongoing efforts to provide the most reliable and efficient services to meet expansion requirements of the electricity distribution network.

The contract includes the supply of aluminium and copper cables to expand electricity distribution networks across Dubai, to meet continued growth in demand for electricity.

“Dewa is proactively implementing vital development projects, especially infrastructure, to achieve sustainable development and happiness in Dubai, for generations to come. The award of this contract will manage the continued growth of demand for electricity and the needs of ambitious urban, economic and social projects. It also aims to establish Dubai’s leading position in the region, as an example of an effective and efficient infrastructure for electricity networks,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa.

These cables will be used in several projects at Dewa, and will contribute to increasing the capacity of efficiency and reliability of electricity distribution in Dubai, to ensure a continuous and stable supply of electricity to customers.
