Iran aims to increase drilling rigs

TEHRAN, October 3, 2016

National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) plans to increase its drilling rigs to 80 by mid-March 2017, a report said.

NIDC had completed drilling its 100th oil and gas well both onshore and offshore, Iran Daily reported, citing Shana.

Nasser Qolipour, company's corporate planning director, said the operations on the well ended in Dehloran on Friday with the installation of Fath 57 drilling rig.

He pointed out that the well is located in one of the operation zones of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).

He revealed that since March 20, the NIDC has drilled 33 development wells, one exploration and 66 maintenance wells, adding that 75 of the company's offshore and onshore drilling rigs are operating in more than 10 provinces.

The company has drilled up to 161,560 meters since March 20, he added.
