QP to acquire 30pc interest in offshore blocks in Morocco

Qatar Petroleum (QP) has signed a deal with Chevron Morocco Exploration, to acquire 30 per cent participating interest in three deep-water offshore leases in Morocco, according to a report.
 
QP will acquired 30 per cent interest from Chevron's 75 per cent, while Chevron will retain 45 per cent and remain the operator and Morocco's Office National Des Hydrocarbures Et Des Mines will continue to have a 25 per cent interest, said the Qatar Tribune report.
 
The three offshore areas include Cap Rhir Deep, Cap Cantin Deep and Cap Walidia Deep, it said.
 
The lease areas are located between 100 and 200 km west and northwest of the Moroccan city of Agadir, it added.
