Nexans, a leader in cables and cabling systems, is set to supply high voltage power cables and infield cables to Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the engineering, procurment and construction (EPC) contractor for Nasr oil field project, offshore from Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The deal is for the second package of the Nasr Full Field Development Project, valued at around €90 million ($100.6 million), said a statement.

Nexans subsea cables will deliver power for the new offshore super complex serving Abu Dhabi’s Nasr oil field, which is located approximately 130 km northwest of the emirate.

HHI is undertaking engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning work for the new super complex serving the Nasr field.

The project will comprise a gas treatment platform, a separation platform, an accommodation platform; installation of subsea power and infield cables; modifying an existing manifold tower and two wellhead towers and work for power distribution facilities from the existing Das Island in the Persian Gulf.

For the Nasr project, Nexans is supplying HHI with 132 kV XLPE insulated three-core subsea power cable incorporating three fibre optic elements, together with 11 kV XLPE insulated three-core infield cables, also incorporating three fibre optic elements.

The Nasr cables will be manufactured at Nexans’ specialised facility in Halden Norway.

Dirk Steinbrink, senior executive vice president, High Voltage and Underwater Cables, Nexans, said: “Winning this very significant order for the Nasr project continues our current growth in subseas power cable projects.
