Focus on energy innovations at Abu Dhabi event

DUBAI, August 27, 2015

The latest innovations and smart technologies for the oil and gas sector will feature at a leading event in Abu Dhabi, UAE next month.
 
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Middle East Intelligent Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, under the theme 'Transforming for Improved Decisions,' will take place on September 15 and 16 at the Jumeriah at Etihad Towers.
 
The event will serve as a knowledge and experience-sharing platform for intelligent energy development and implementation across the exploration and production value chain, said a statement.
 
The keynote addresses at the opening ceremony will be provided by SPE 2017 president Janeen Judah, general manager, Southern Africa Business Unit, Chevron, and SPE regional director, Middle East and North Africa Fareed Abdulla, senior vice president NEB Asset, ADCO, it said.
 
The executive plenary session, 'Progressing Intelligent Oil and Gas in a Low Price Environment,' will focus on the development, implementation, and role of new and more intelligent technologies in the current oil price environment.
 
Industry experts will discuss several key aspects of intelligent energy through three panel sessions: “Building the Business Case and Managing Expectations: How ‘Smart’ is ‘Smart’ Enough?," “What is the Future of Collaboration?,” and “Innovation: Which Technologies will Drive our Vision? What’s on the Horizon?”
 
More than 45 technical papers and e-posters will be presented across 10 technical sessions which will be devoted to topics such as: “Big Data and Analytics,” “Real-Time—Drilling,” “Real-Time—Realising Production Value,” “Intelligent Completions,” “People and Change Management,” “Reliability and Performance,” “Real-Time—Modelling and Optimisation,” “Integrated Workflow,” “Intelligent Oil and Gas—A Global Perspective,” and “Emerging Technologies.”
 
Meanwhile, training courses, organised in conjunction with the conference and exhibition, will provide participants with the opportunity to add to both their industry knowledge and qualifications. 
 
The pre-event training course, 'Working Effectively within a Software Development Framework,' will take place on September 14 and the post-event training course, 'Hydraulic Fracturing Optimisation,' will take place on September 17.
 
Educational programmes and activities for teachers and students will run parallel to the main event, said the statement.
 
The Energy4me teachers workshop will provide teachers with interesting and interactive tools and experiments to educate students about energy choices and careers. 
 
The Energy4me® student workshop for Grade 10 to 12 high school students will include expert speakers, hands-on activities and an exhibition/technology tour. Students can use this opportunity to learn about emerging technologies in the petroleum industry, career opportunities, and the impact of energy in our everyday lives, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
