The ongoing comprehensive turnaround operation at Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) complex in Sitra, Bahrain is now approaching the final stages of completion, it has been announced.

The announcement follows a review by the company's managing director Yousef Al Zamil who was given a tour of the plant and activities by president Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery along with members of the executive management team, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Dr Jawahery said the turnaround operation was running smoothly in complete accordance with the plan laid down.

Al Zamil, accompanied by Dr Jawahery, visited several locations and units at the complex and was briefed on the responsibilities assigned to each section and their respective employees.

The managing director reviewed progress and looked at results that have been achieved, in addition to work that had been completed.

He discussed provisions and safeguards that the company had taken before and during the execution of the project and reviewed all aspects of safety, health and environment, in addition to the medical emergency preparedness, logistical and food arrangements made for the personnel at the complex.

Al Zamil expressed satisfaction at the execution of the turnaround activities and commended the professional environment in which the tasks were being done by the personnel involved in the project.

The managing director also visited the workshops and met the contractors along with their teams working in the maintenance department.

He also visited the main control room and was briefed on the progress of work and the activities performed.

Al Zamil reiterated his complete confidence in the skills and the capabilities of the GPIC team in handling such large-scale jobs.

He reminded them of their excellent work in the previous turnaround, which was successfully accomplished in 2012. - TradeArabia News Service
