GPIC achieves key Q3 targets
MANAMA, October 15, 2014
Bahrain-based Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has achieved targeted results for the third quarter of the year in spite of the extremely harsh temperatures during the summer.
In a statement, company president Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery said GPIC has now produced 10 million tonnes of urea fertiliser since its inception, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
The petrochemical firm also notched up achievements in the area of occupational safety, reporting nearly 4,542 days without a lost time accident, which translates into more than 18.2 million hours.
Dr Jawahery said the achievements of high production rates were even more impressive considering the severe heat during the summer months when temperatures rose to record levels.
This, he said, had an adverse impact on the performance of factory employees as well as the cooling systems employed in the factory area.
"However, the company overcame the obstacle and achieved higher production rates meeting all contractual obligations and increasing its income," he added.
He said all this was achieved keeping in mind all safety precautions and the vagaries of the markets, which usually see severe competition between dealers and variables in the market in the balance of supply and demand. Dr Jawahery said GPIC achieved a good turnover too. - TradeArabia News Service
