Tatweer launches phase 3 of major gas project

Manama, June 1, 2012

Tatweer Petroleum's third phase of gas compression in the Bahrain Field, capable of handling approximately 100 million standard cu ft per day of additional associated gas production, was launched yesterday (May 31).

It was inaugurated by Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza and attended by nogaholding chief executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Banagas general manager Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Bapco chief executive Gordon Smith, the executive management of Tatweer Petroleum led by Dr Ed Hanley and Adel Almoayyed and other invited guests.

The Compression Phase 3 project will contribute to increasing oil production from the field. The compressors reinject this gas for reservoir pressure maintenance, effectively storing the gas for future production.

The project has a total of 33 compressors in three stations and was constructed in approximately six months.

The compressors now bring Tatweer's total installed compression capacity to more than 230 million standard cu ft per day.

Dr Mirza hailed Tatweer for undertaking to handle associated gas production as this will contribute to conserving energy and will pave the way for increasing future oil production from the Bahrain Field. – TradeArabia News Service
