MG’s first overseas training academy opens in Dubai
DUBAI, March 28, 2017
Iconic British automotive brand MG today announced the opening of its new Middle East training academy, the latest stage of the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence across the region.
The first-of-its-kind academy to be located in one of MG’s overseas regions, the new facility cements the brand’s commitment to offering the highest standards of service to its customers across the Middle East, said a statement.
The opening of the training academy in Dubai also underscores MG’s focus on delivering improved skills for the long-term and ensuring training meets the needs of the business. Available to staff from across its Middle East network, (including UAE, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia), the training provided through the MG Training Academy will meet quality levels defined by a recognized and standardized accreditation process, said the company.
Learning opportunities available through the MG Training Academy will range from programmes for up-skilling technicians to the company’s award-winning advanced and degree apprenticeships. Within its first year, the academy’s curriculum will expand to cover other functional, business and management qualifications, delivered by leading universities, academic institutions and vocational training providers. Furthermore, the academy will act as a research and development facility for testing MG vehicles prior to launching, ensuring they meet GCC specifications and regulations.
Located in the Dubai Investment Park, the new MG Training Academy has an annual learning and development outlay of some $150,000. The new facility covers an area of 425 sq m including two car bays, a training room, a workshop and tooling and storage space. The provision of special tooling and training aids required for the MG products available in the Middle East will ensure that the quality of information, training and services is of the highest level, it said.
Chen Shubo, aftersales director, MG Motors, said: "While we are investing in the future of MG by creating very special vehicles for our discerning customers, we are also employing and developing highly skilled people who will ensure our continued success. As such the Middle East MG Training Academy is a crucial asset.
“The aim of the new MG Training Academy is to maximise the talent of our workforce and give them new opportunities to develop their careers. Through providing continuous learning from recruitment to retirement, the Academy will ensure that we have the skills needed to compete globally,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
