11 UAE entries shortlisted for Lexus Design Award

A total of 11 entries from the UAE have been shortlisted for this year's fourth Lexus Design Award, in a further testament to the growing popularity of the competition.
The UAE entries among those which have qualified from around the world, will be vying for one fo the 12 finalists places whose works will be showcased at the internationally renowned Milan Design Week 2016, said a statement.
Chris Buxton, general manager of Lexus Sales at Al-Futtaim Motors, said: “We have witnessed great response during Lexus Design Award 2016 roadshow in the UAE and we are very pleased to see that the number of UAE-based talents who qualified to compete on international stage has significantly increased in comparison to last year’s edition.
“Following on the footsteps of last year’s Grand Prix winning project from the UAE we are confident that the UAE entries embody innovative designs and unique interpretations of this year’s theme Anticipation.”
The top four of the 12 international finalists will develop prototypes of their designs while receiving support from globally recognised design mentors, said the statement.
The finalists will present their designs in the Lexus booth at the Milan Design Week, after which the Grand Prix winner will be selected from among the four prototypes through final review by the judges, it said.
