Dubai motor show to feature top eco-friendly cars

Global brands such as BMW, Cadillac, Jaguar Land Rover, Lexus, and Toyota will showcase their latest sustainable products and technologies at the upcoming Dubai International Motor Show (DIMS).
Over 100,000 visitors will experience the latest industry innovations and technologies at the biennial show being hosted at Dubai World Trade Centre from November 10-14, including sustainable solutions from the world’s leading manufacturers.
“Manufacturers will have the chance to show visitors how they’re responding to the rapid changes in the industry, especially when it comes to delivering sustainable solutions,” said Trixie LohMirmand, senior vice president, Exhibitions & Events Management, Dubai World Trade Centre.
“Visitors will also be educated about the different and exciting range of technologies evolving in this area, and how they can actively be part of the solution to build a more sustainable future.”
BMW i8
Comprising an electric motor and a petrol engine, the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid combines the performance and appeal of a sports car with the fuel consumption and emissions of a small car. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds, using just 2.1L of petrol per 100kms and emitting just 59g/km of emissions.
Cadillac CT6
Featuring the industry’s first application of cylinder deactivation technology on a turbocharged V6 engine, the Cadillac CT6 also has an advanced automotive body structures.
Jaguar Land Rover
Jaguar will showcase its new aluminium family of vehicles with its new Jaguar XE and Jaguar XF saloons at this year’s show. The all new Jaguar XE uses an aluminium monocoque body with the lightweight metal accounting for 75 per cent of the car’s structure.
Hybrid Lexus LSh, GSh and RXh
Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Lexus in the UAE, offers the largest line-up of Lexus premium hybrid vehicles in the UAE, and will be showcasing three hybrid models at this year’s show - the Lexus LSh, GSh and RXh These vehicles are equipped with cutting-edge hybrid technologies combining a powerful gasoline engine and an advanced electric motor allowing them to run purely on electric power at lower speeds whilst emitting zero emissions.
Toyota’s Mirai
Toyota has sold around 8 million hybrid vehicles globally, resulting in approximately 58 million fewer tons of CO2 emissions than would have been emitted by petrol-powered vehicles of similar size and driving performance. In the UAE, Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Toyota, has been spearheading sustainable mobility initiatives, delivering Toyota hybrid vehicles to major fleet operators.
The 2015 Dubai International Motor Show is supported by Show partners AC Delco, Alienware, Autopro, Cooper Tires, ENOC and Swiss Tourism.
DIMS will also feature the new Motoring Nostalgia Museum where visitors will experience classics and vintage models showcasing the great eras of the motoring industry.
